Suspect arrested for dealing cocaine

Matagorda County Sheriff’s Office 17th search warrant of the year was successfully executed on Wednesday August 18.

The warrant was executed at the 902 Moore Street in Palacios where 27 year-year-old Jesse Gomez was arrested and charged with manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance.

The joint investigation between the Matagorda County Sheriff’s Office and the Palacios Police Department netted 124 rocks of crack cocaine with a street value of $3000.

Lieutenant Frank Craft of the Matagorda County Sheriff’s Office reported the search warrant was the result of a short investigation lead by a case agent with the Palacios Police Department whom he declined to name. Gomez was previously convicted in Victoria County for dealing drugs in 2008 and is currently on probation for that offense. He remains in the Matagorda County Jail at this time with bond set at $100,000.

“The Narcotics Division is stepping up our activities in Sargent and Matagorda and is concentrating our efforts on the drug problem in those areas. Expect more arrests,” said Craft.
