The power of Politics is known for its ability to corrupt many a good person. However, when an individual has remained in the political arena for too many years and forgets the fact that "He or She work for the people's interest and no their own" their time has then come to get out of the game.
This I say due to a most disturbing rumor, which has been circulating around Matagorda County regarding one seeking office for Commissioner of position 2.
Although I reside in Precinct 4, all members of the Commissioners Board ultimately have an affect on what happens with the work of other County office holders, etc.
It is being said, that a certain candidate seeking the Commissioner 2 seat has frequently stated, "he is primarily interested in becoming a Commissioner so as to create problems for our County Sheriff”...If this is so, perhaps all voters of Precinct 2 should further examine closely the character of those seeking this office.
In as much as I am not fully knowledgeable of the daily operations of the County Sheriff's office, I do however have a tremendous respect and like for Sheriff Gary Mathes. He does seem to have his feet on the ground and realizes that he works for the people of Matagorda County...who " elected " him and all others. There are many however quickly to forget, it's the people's business they are "sworn to uphold " and not their personal agenda's.
Sheriff Mathes warm, engraciating open door approach and respect of others tends to give this resident a personal sense of comfortability with him being this office holder. Therefore, "if" any portion of the rumor is true...then any person planning to become elected to any office so as to carry out a personal vendetta against the Sheriff or anyone else" should not be given consideration for "Any elected position within Matagorda County"

So we are perpetuating a rumor here?
And it's Mathis, not Mathes.
