Sandra Cowart participated in the 2010 Chevron Houston Marathon on Sunday, Jan. 17 in Houston. She ran the full marathon – 26.2 miles with an official time of 3:59:37 qualifying her to run in the 2011 Boston Marathon taking place in April 2011.

Cowart has been a runner for 30 years. To prepare for the marathon, she trained for 18 weeks and practiced with 10 other running enthusiasts.

“We trained during the rain and cold,” she said. “It is great to have that support from friends and family.
