Last night at the special called Bay City Council meeting, it was evident within the first few minutes when the interim city attorney started speaking that Jason Budaus was not being reinstated as a driver for the City’s Sanitation Department. It reminded me of olden Roman days when a Christian (Jason) was fed to the lions. The three ladies sitting in front of me shook their heads in disgust. Things were said that were utterly uncalled for and didn’t relate to the incident, especially the “what ifs.” It’s a very sad, sad time when wrong prevails over right and when a man, who is a husband and father, has to choose whether to protect his family as God says to do in the Bible or go by the rules in a handbook.
I am proud of Jason for the following: He did what was right as a father. He told the truth without a lawyer present to protect his rights. He wasn’t afraid to stand up and question statements being made in front of City Council. And, the best is that he wasn’t afraid to stand up and let everyone know how important God is in his life.
I know God will handle this in His own time and in His own way where He gets the glory. May God have mercy on us all.
