Theft and forgery
On Monday March 1, deputy spoke with complainant at the Matagorda County Sheriff’s office in reference to theft and forgery that occurred. Deputy spoke to complainant and stated that while he was at his bank in Sweeney, he discovered that his bank account was overdrawn. He was then advised three checks had been cashed from his account and they totaled $8,220. He advised he had just deposited $8,069 in his account before he discovered what had happened. One of the checks was cashed in Blessing, another cashed in Sweeney and other check cashed in El Campo branch. A report was written and turned in to the criminal investigation division.
Accidental shooting
On Saturday Feb. 27 deputy was dispatched to Palacios in reference to a female accidentally shooting her foot. The complainant advised she shot herself with a rifle while trying to scare off some dogs from her yard. Upon arrival deputy observed the Matagorda County Emergency Service arrived at scene. Deputy observed a small bullet hole injury to the second toe of complainant. There was a small amount of blood. Complainant reported that her dog had just had puppies and ran outside and she went to find it. Then other neighborhood dogs came to her yard and started chasing her dog. She then ran back into her house to get a .22 caliber rifle and walked out onto the front porch. She then fired a shot into the air and then she pointed the riffle in a downward direction and the gun went off a second time. She said she felt the pain to her left foot and toe.
Stolen equipment
On Friday Feb. 26 deputy was dispatched to Van Vleck in reference to a past theft. Upon arrival, complainant advised that an unknown actor stole his black in color tongue pulled twenty-foot low boy, valued at $1,500. The trailer has trailer ramps built on the back of the trailer. Complainant advised that the wooden floor was rotten on the back so it is covered with a piece of plywood.
Report of past assault
On Friday Feb. 26 deputy was dispatched to Tres Palacios Oaks office building to meet with complainant in reference to a past assault. Upon arrival, deputy met with complainant who reported someone while inside the store assaulted him. Complainant said he entered the store and observe a person enter the store after he did. He then confronted complainant and said hello to him, commenting that it must be nice that he was retired at the age of forty. He then walked up to him and slapped him on his stomach, leaving a print on his stomach. Complainant did not want to confront person who hit him and walked out of his store. He was not going to report the assault, but after speaking to a friend he decided to file charges. He said store clerk and a customer witnessed the assault and possibly captured by security video. Charges are pending for this case.

I really wish people would learn how to spell Sweeny correctly. There are only TWO "e"s.
