Dear Editor:
This is in regards to a story you ran relating to the proposed coal plant. If area newspapers do not accurately present the story, how can people know what to believe?
Randy Bird and White Stallion are fronting for someone else but they won’t tell anyone who. Randy Bird was asked about his company Sky Energy during the TCEQ hearing and admitted to only having four employees and to never having built a coal plant.
Do we really want to destroy the Matagorda Bay estuary with the silt and pollution this plant will bring? And by the way, there is no such thing as clean coal. This plant with its CFB technology will put the equivalent of nearly 5 million cars' exhaust into the air annually...plus create toxic coal ash which will be stored on site behind levees...right next to the Colorado River...right upstream from the Intercoastal and the Bay...what are folks thinking?
This is a terrible idea...to ship dirty high sulphur coal and petroleum coke on our waterways and then pump it into our air?
In a state that produces huge qualities of natural gas, why are we importing last century's fuel source?
