Indictment
On Wednesday, August 25, the Matagorda County Grand Jury returned an indictment against Joyce Black from Bay City for the offense of theft. According to Bay City Police Department, the indictment comes as a result of a lengthy investigation conducted by Detective Chad Krenek. Due to an on-going investigation no other information can be released at this time.
Special Operation
On Thursday, August 26, the Bay City Police Department, with assistance from Texas Department of Public Safety, Wharton Police Department, and Matagorda County District Attorney Office conducted a Special Operation. According Bay City Police Department, the operation was designed to catch males and females soliciting undercover officers for sexual favors. The operation netted two arrests. One female was arrested for prostitution and one male was arrested for solicitation of prostitution.
National Night Out
On Tuesday October 5, the Bay City Police Department will participate in National Night Out. National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug awareness, generate support and participation for local anticrime efforts, strengthen neighborhood sprit and police community partnership, and send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized, and fighting back. To register your National Night Out get together contact Crime Prevention Coordinator Sgt Suzanne Sullivan, who will assign officers, local officials and other community supporters to stop by and listen to concerns residents may have concerning their neighborhood.
