Today's production day went rather quickly. I'm surprised I was able to squeeze in a last minute assignment, drive back to the office and write the article. But I did, and I am glad I did. But when I was told that the PDF files had been sent to Victoria for printing, I felt relieved. Our last edition of the year. But that quickly turned into worry as I now have to think of what to write for our next edition for 2010. As I write this, I am looking at our big white board. The place where we keep track of what we are going to do for the paper the following week and well, it's blank right now.

Instead of rushing, thinking and planning for the next year I will sit, relax and enjoy what I have accomplished. Well, of what we all at the Matagorda Advocate have accomplished. We all work hard to make this newspaper happen and I am proud to work for it.
In echoing my editor's words, "I remind myself I'm living a dream. I try to treat each day as editor of the Victoria Advocate as a gift. I thank the newspaper’s owners, my co-workers and my community for their faith in me to do a job I still consider central to society."
Everyone have a safe and happy New Year. We will be here next week to bring you community news from Matagorda County.
