I am thankful everyday for all that has happened to me in the last few years.

Funny how a moment in time, can change your whole life. For me, it was a road trip to Atlanta, GA. It was the husband (the ex-husband now. Yep, I was once married - for 11 years) who suggested we visit the CNN building downtown. It was a cold February morning and all I wanted to do was go to the Coca-Cola museum. But off we went. It was the view of the newsroom that took my breath away. We were not allowed to take pictures inside, but this one is inspiring too:

In that hour tour, I decided I was going to leave my job at Dell and pursue the dream of becoming a reporter. Two weeks later, I left Dell and we moved back to the Valley.

Going back to school was fun and challenging. It changed my life forever, including my personal life.

Do I have any regrets? No. I took the road less traveled by. I am doing now what I love and enjoy.

So this Thanksgiving I thank those who supported me and opened the door to this world I love.

I thank the people that saw the eagerness of a girl who had no writing experience and given the chance to write.

I thank the Victoria Advocate family, including Chris Cobler who I e-mailed, spoke to and almost begged for an opportunity to write for the paper.

In the words of Robert Frost: I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference
