This weekend I will be heading to Austin for the IRE's Watchdog Journalism Training taking place at The University of Texas at Austin. This is specially exciting for me because as a reporter, I am always looking for ways to grow and improve my writing skills. I do have to admit, sometimes I do forget my AP Style basics, but this workshop is going to go beyond the basics of writing. This will be a workshop that is going to help me improve on hard-hitting story ideas, techniques for more effective sourcing and interviewing and other information. Looking forward to the expected speakers at the conference. Some will be from the Washington Post, Houston Chronicle and The Texas Tribune, to name a few. I am also excited about this workshop because one of my dreams was to attend the Journalism school at UT. I never got the chance. Walking in to the Jesse Jones Communication Building is going to be a thrill. Until then, everyone have a great and safe weekend!
