Last Friday I spent the morning with some seniors at Friends of Elder Citizens. It is a non-profit organization for seniors of Bay City (and around the area). They spend their days having fun by playing games, going out on field trips and meeting the community. The program provides them healthy meals, safety activities and education.

As I sat and observed what was going on between them, I came to the realization that I too will be a senior (some day of course). I only hope that there will be a program like this one when I am older.

On Monday I drove to Palacios to meet some kids that are taking part in the Box Top for Education. The girls were so adorable, but they knew the purpose behind the program. This program awards free money to schools, which can be used to purchase items they may need. The students must collect coupons that can be found in selective food boxes and each one is worth 10 cents. With the money earned, Central Elementary has purchased play ground equipment!
