This week marks one of the greatest weeks of Texas County music on the planet... and by planet I of course mean Texas, but as far as I'm concerned, when Texas Country music is involved, there's nowhere else on this planet I would rather be.
It's Chilifest time in Snook once again. This great event calls for people of all ages to converge on the tiny town of Snook, increasing the town's population about 1,000-fold, for a two-day long Barbeque and country concert. Now, for those who don't know where Snook is, it's located about 30 minutes South of College Station, meaning the event is packed with more Aggies than should ever be allowed to pack themselves into what is 363 days out of the year just an empty field. But then again, we are Aggies, and hanging out in fields is kinda what we're good at and known for. But I digress.
Chilifest is a great time to catch up with old friends, make new ones, enjoy some great BBQ, drink a few cold ones and listen to the best of the best in the Texas Country world. This year, the Chilifest lineup includes Kyle Park (my fiance and my favorite artist), Reckless Kelly, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Pat Green, and Robert Earl Keen. We can't wait. Last year's event was marked by about 6 hours of rainfall the night before. Knee deep mud. Fun. The forecast for this weekend is sunny, highs in the low 80s with no chance of rain. Glorious.
It's deffinately a weekend I look forward to and with the lineup this year, I'm sure it'll be amazing.
Get Ready Snook! Here we come!!
